The "a" key is toggling something. There is a timer symbol and another symbol that says "auto". Also happens with the "a" key and "[" key

Keyboard symbols toggle inconsistent

I'm finding the keyboard very frustrating to use because the toggling of the symbols mode seems inconsistent.

For example, I'd like to type the word "that's".

I type "that", then press the symbols key to get an apostrophe.

50% of the type after I insert the apostrophe, it goes back to the normal keyboard, and the rest of the time it stays on symbols.

Unless I am missing some subtle detail, this seems rather buggy, and makes typing quite a frustrating experience.

(Couldn't find an appropriate topic again so going for Tips & Tricks this time.)

Virus and malware could be one of the possible reasons why you're having trouble with symbols on your keyboard. To isolate the issue, we'd like to ask you a few questions:

• Have you made any recent changes to your device before the issue started?
  
• Did you encounter any error messages while typing the symbols?
• Can you tell us the troubleshooting steps that you've performed?

Unable to insert symbols

I understand that you are unable to insert symbols. However, it would be great if you can reply with the details requested below:

• When you say, “My Windows 10 will not allow me to insert symbols” what happens when you try to insert symbols?
  
• In which application are you trying to insert symbols?
  
• Are you aware of any changes made to the computer recently?
  

Meanwhile, you may want to try downloading fonts for all the languages and see if that helps. Refer the steps mentioned below:

1. Press Windows Logo key + I, to open
   Settings.
   
2. Click on Personalization and select
   Fonts from the left pane.
   
3. Now, click on the link that says Download fonts for all languages.
   
4. Restart the computer.
