Windows 10: the account was created as a standard one, but the system incorrectly sees it as a child...

created a standard Microsoft account and received email confirmation for login. However, the system then requests parental approval, even though I entered my age which clearly does not qualify for a child account according to your criteria. Please help me resolve this issue. I have already registered two different email addresses and encountered the same problem with both - the system keeps requesting parental permission during login. This is extremely frustrating.

Changing a Microsoft account from an (incorrectly entered) adult birthdate to the correct child's birthdate

The links provided in the above response pertain to an account which is already setup as a child. That is not my situation.

My issue is going from an ADULT account to a CHILD account. Currently, the account is setup (incorrectly) as an adult account. I would like to update the birthdate to reflect that this is a child account.

This is an easy scenario to test:

• Setup a new Microsoft account with a birthdate that makes you an adult.
• Log off and then log back in
• Go to your profile and attempt to change the birth date to make you a child.
• The system will prevent you from making this change.

Any suggestions?

 

Change a standard Windows 10 account into a child account.

There's no direct conversion. But you can make it pretty easy:

• Open the C:\Users folder and you'll see their current profile. Copy the Documents/Pictures/Desktop folders to your own desktop temporarily.
• Create a child user account, and delete the old one.
• Drag the files from step 1 into that new account.

I'm trying to see if there's a way to change a local account (standard user) to a child account so it can be managed in the Microsoft Family?

I tried to follow the steps here https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...1-c8f8cca1d52f

but there's no option for "family and other users".

They do not have Microsoft accounts. Do I need to basically create a new child account at Windows setup?

Any assistance appreciated.
