The application “chrome” has failed to start because its side by side configuration is incorrect. How can I fix this?

The Application has failed to start because its side to side configuration is incorrect

When I try to open google chrome I get the error message "The Application has failed to start because its side to side configuration is incorrect". I have provided the screen shot below. Any suggestions?

After two unsuccessful "Feature update to Windows 10, version 1607" updates, I found I wasn't able to open any email links and I subsequently found the reason for that was that I was getting this Chrome error, "The application has failed to start because the
side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log for more details." I fixed the problem downloading and installing Chrome again. I don't know if it was a new version, but it fixed the problem.
