    The audio on my PC is not working even though my headphones are being recognized as plugged in.


    This issue started a couple of days ago and I've been trying to fix it on my own and gone down a couple of rabbit wholes but haven't gotten anywhere. I've tried updating drivers, but it tells me that the file can't be found. I tried to make sure my windows were fully up to date, but most of the updates were unable to be installed and gave me the error 0x800703f1. I did an SFC scan, and it found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Everything else is working on my PC other than the audio issues. After looking through the CBS.log I found warnings about certain files, C:\WINDOWS\SysW

    Headphones Not Recognized as Plugged In

    I installed the Conexant driver from the manufacturer's website and ran in compatibility mode for Windows 8. Still the same problem; headphone jack is not recognized at all.

    Windows 10 HD audio driver still lists headphones as a playback device, but their status is always "not plugged in" even if they are plugged in.

    This is a new laptop (just bought last month from the Microsoft store) and came preinstalled with Windows 10.

    I have this same issue; I tried both of these solutions and neither of them helped. The driver says it's up to date. I tried to reinstall the driver (Conexant audio driver) and it gave me an error message saying "driver installation failed: could not find
    the device for this driver."

    The Conexant driver doesn't recognize headphones as a playback device at all. I switched to the generic Windows 10 HD audio driver and headphones are listed as a playback device, but their status is always "not plugged in" even if they are plugged in.
