Windows 10: The CD-ROM drive shows some files, but there is no CD inside the drive

The CD-ROM drive shows some files, but there is no CD inside the drive.Also, sometimes, it shows files from previous CD, as if didn't refresh the actual content.Even when I force a "Refresh", "F5" or "open the CD-ROM extension", the actual content is not shown.Sometimes, I need to put a blank CD inside the CD-ROM and, after that, insert the CD with the new content.There was no update in the CDROM driver.I tested restarting the Windows and, even after the boot, without CD inside the driver, the old content is still shown.This problem has happened in, at least, 3 different machines that I could

DVD/CD Drive Saying CD-Rom

My Dvd drive is listed in my device manager however it is set as cd rom in the description, it also wont open and is not set as my default drive, any suggestions?

windows 10 if that changes anything

 

Cd Rom / Dvd Writer

Hi,

I have both Samsung CD ROM & LG DVD Writer(Both are internal). Since some days CD ROM is getting opened and trying to get closed all by its own.

I removed the power cord of CD ROM & again connected. This time it is not showing both the drives. It is showing only 1 drive and if i right click on that drive and select eject, both the drives are getting opened.

Is it anything related to virus? Do i need to install OS once again.

Pls Suggest

 

X58 and IDE CD-ROM drives.

I have noticed on the EVGA X58 board that there is no IDE in the normal placement for a CD-ROM drive. So does the CD-ROM drive have to be SATA?

I see there is an IDE port below the mobo power connector, but isn't that only for the old school HDD's? (can that take CD-ROM's to?). In the manual it only mentions connecting IDE HDD's, but no mention of CD-ROM drives.
