Windows 10: The clock app's timer no longer makes sound.

I'll set a timer for how long I want to work on something, then when the timer is done, it doesn't alert me. According to task manager, the "background task host" is suspended by UWP. My laptop is not asleep, I've given the clock app permission to run in the background always, and I've tried to resume background task host on the resource monitor. I don't know what else to try.

• I had a malware problem 6 weeks ago, but the clock timer wasn’t affected.
• I looked at some U-Tube videos on desktop clocks but found no solutions.
• It is the first time I’ve encountered the problem.
