Windows 10: the cloud file provider is not running

    Yesterday I've suddenly got this error message repeatedly. I've searched for this error message -- which I found pretty often -- but without any real answer -- including here at answers.microsoft.com.

    Attempting to logout&login succeeded repeatedly -- means no error message. Hitting login again prompted one again for login&password as if the previous login was not successful. So I uninstalled the ondrive app and reinstalled it. Now the (new) onedrive app does not seem to sync with the onedrive folder on my computer anymore at all.

    Is this what Microsoft intends?

    Hello

    I have been using RoboCopy and PowerShell as a scheduled task to backup data for years.

    However I now have a problem when the files are on OneDrive and the folder being backed up does not find the file. I get the response

    ERROR 362 (0x0000016A) Copying File {FileName}

    The cloud file provider is not running.

    I have OneDrive running under the same account that is running the scheduled task and the scheduled task is

    Program/Script:

    C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\powershell.exe

    Add Arguments (optional):

    -NoProfile -NoLogo -NonInteractive -File {Script}.ps1

    Any help much appreciated

    Error 0x8007016A: The Cloud File provider is not running.

    I can no longer open any zipped files, or move or copy any files in any of the OneDrive folders on my PC. Every time I try I get error message 0x8006017A and the message that "The Cloud File provider is not running".

    This problem occurs in both normal and safe modes, and regardless of whether the OneDrive app is running or not.

    Error 0x8007016A: The Cloud File provider is not running

    Hi Eric-Kell,

    When yo reset one drive ill re-sync all files from the cloud so this is a normal behavior.

    So far i understand that you have a duplicate files now. if yes identify the duplicity and remove it.

    Can you go to one drive online to verify if all your file are there?

    If the synchronization is slow it might be your bandwidth because one drive is synchronizing all files at once.

    If you have multiple folders ill suggest to choose folders to sync until you get all you files synced.
