Windows 10: The cpu is always running at 100% and laptop is too slow

Processor AMD Ryzen 3 3250U with Radeon Graphics 2.60 GHz Installed RAM 8.00 GB 5.89 GB usable System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor Device dell inspiron 15 3505 Edition Windows 11 Home Single Language Version 22H2 OS build 22621.675 My laptop is mostly at 100% cpu use even when i have just opened it and no applications are open i have disabled all services except microsoft services and also disabled all start up apps i also have scanned my pc many times for virus but still it is too slow i also have my ssd and hdd in good condition with plenty of free space n

Taskhostw.exe CPU usage 100% slowing everything down

I hope someone is able to help as I have spent the entire weekend driving myself insane trying to fix this.

My laptop started running slow and freezing. I use it for writing and emails, no gaming or anything exciting.

It turns out my CPU usage is at 100% due to taskhostw.exe.

I have tried everything suggested online. The SFC scan, system restore etc. I tried seeing if I could close things in task manager but there are 90 processes running and I have no idea what is was. None seem to be using CPU according to that though. Any advice is welcome. Thanks!

 

100% disk utilisation slowing laptop

Thank you for your assistance, I have had to type this in WORD and copy paste into the thread here due to all things through Chrome and Edge are so slow.

• Windows is always up to date with all updates.
  
• Norton Utilities is also up to date
  

• I have already done the following:
  
  • Tested HDD with HP Startup Menu and disk is 100% in order
    
  • Carried out SFC scan and corrupt files repaired
    
  • Did a DSIM restore health and no issues found-Disk utilisation is now generally below 50%
    
  • When using Chrome browser, to access this chat for example, its very slow with Disk utilisation at 10% or so but Memory at 55% with Chrome using most of it always.
    
  • So the problem is partially resolved except for when using Chrome
    
  • With Edge the memory goes up to 62% and HDD 100%
    
  • Did you suggested :Methods” 1, 2, 3, 5, 6
    
• I have not done a “clean boot” as it scares me at this stage.
  

It seems to be an issue between Chrome/Edge browsers as when I use Office 365’s Outlook, Word etc, the speed is now OK. Also the Disk utilisation seems to be generally acceptable but memory high that may be slowing the laptop down?

I have had issues with Teams simultaneously in that it’s so slow but with Zoom its normal, coincidence?

CPU usage is at 100% and nothing is running.

For the past week my laptop CPU has been running at 100%. I did a complete system reset and yet it is still running at 100% all the time. I have done countless of time troubleshooting and have no clue what the problem is. This laptop is new within the year.
My cpu is a intel core i5 7th gen. Can someone please help me figure this out? Thanks a bunch!
