Windows 10: The default app I select for .jpg, .jpeg, and .png will not stay set to the Photos app on...

I have tried to set my default app for .jpg, .jpeg, and .png to the Photos app, but after awhile, it stops being the default. When i go to double click on an image i want to view, it opens the print picture interface. When I go to look at my default apps, the selection for .jpg, .jpeg, and .png have all been cleared. I have tried several times to set the default and this always happens, i have looked thru the settings in Photos and didn't see anything that would help, and no other file has this issue.

Photos are opening with Paint instead of Photos app

It's likely that your default application for opening photos is Paint. To change your default program in Windows 10 from
Paint to the Photo app, we suggest that you perform the following steps:

• On the Start menu, select Settings.
  
• Go to System, then go to Default apps.
  
• Select Photos or any app that you like to be the default under
  Photo viewer.

Can't Select Photoshop as a Default App

Hi
I've just downloaded Photoshop CC2018 and tried to make it the default photo viewer, but it does not appear in the list of apps that I can select from. Have also tried doing the same for opening .jpg files, but just the same, no Photoshop! I have rebooted the system a couple of times but it makes no difference.

Any suggestions?

I suggest you to set the photo gallery as default app and check if it helps. You may follow the steps below.

• 
  Go to settings select System.
  
• 
  Click on default app and select defaults by app.
  
• 
  Now select Photo gallery as default app.
