Windows 10: "The default gateway is not available" issue

Hi there. I've been having this issue with up and down frequency for the span of about 10 months. Basically, my computer will randomly disconnect from the internet (with no lag leading up to it--just straight up disconnecting). Then I'll right click on the Wi-Fi icon in the lower right-hand corner of the screen and select "Troubleshoot problems." It takes a couple minutes of "scanning" for problems, and tells me the same thing every time--"The default gateway is not available." It fixes itself, and I close the troubleshooter, and the same exact thing happens several minutes later.


Now, I inherited this PC from my late uncle, and when I first got it, this sort of thing never happened. It randomly started to happen a bit before I moved into a new house in April 2018. At first, it happened every couple of hours I'd say. However, the frequency of the issue only increased. Now it tends to happen every few minutes or so. Admittedly, the problem will get a bit worse if I'm downloading something, streaming something, etc. But it also happens when I'm doing absolutely nothing; just less frequently I guess.


It's absolutely not an issue with my actual internet, router, etc. All other devices in the house work 100% fine. TVs, other computers, phones, etc.--all fine and dandy.


I've tried some of the fixes that can be found online, such as checking for driver updates and uninstalling and reinstalling my driver. The Power Management settings fix doesn't apply, the box many sites tell you to uncheck is already unchecked for me. I also tried the "netsh"/"netshell" command to no success, as well as manually assigning the default gateway and IP address. I also do not have any McAfee programs installed at all.


One of my friends suggested I simply need a new network card in my PC. Does that seem plausible at all? I'm just not sure at this point. I've even reset my computer to factory settings to try to see if that helped. It helped decrease the frequency of the issue a bit, but then it started to get really bad again.


Oh, and occasionally, if I'm watching a YouTube video, the audio will glitch when I disconnect from the internet again, and I'll get the stupid "" blue screen. So patronizing.

I had this exact same issue with a Dell laptop which has an Intel wireless adapter.
