Windows 10: "The directory name is invalid" keeps popping up, non stop.

I'd just bought a new hard drive to transfer some files from an older, existing hard drive for safe keeping. The old hard drive was fine but the error "The directory name is invalid" popped up for the new drive. I tried suggestions online like changing the USB slots, checking if drivers have been updated but they're all alright.My old drive is perfectly fine and being sensed.The hard part is that the "The directory name is invalid" error won't stop popping up until I disconnect the drive from the PC, so I can't even access disk management to change the properties of the hard drive and get it t

Please help - keep getting a pop up box stating - directory name invalid - G drive ? I don't have a G drive ? Suggestions please

 

F:\ The directory name is invalid

I updated to Windows 10 and now I'm getting frequent error messages saying "F:\ The directory name is invalid" and "G:\ The directory name is invalid" I'm not sure what my F:\ and G:\ drives are. I can't find anything about them on my computer. These error
messages pop up out of nowhere. Any idea why I'm getting them or what I can do to stop them?

utility. Follow these steps to access the utility:

• Press the Windows icon + R on your keyboard.
• Copy and paste this 'RunDll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL hotplug.dll".
• Remove any device that you'll see in the utility.
• Restart your computer, then observe if the issue will occur again.
