*** Problem has reappeared, so this is NOT a solution **** *Sad
It worked for 5 reboots, so strange it reappeared

Been searching for days to find a solution for this problem (including fresh installs of Windows 10 etc), and today accidentally found it ... for my Asus Maximus V111 Formula at least, but it may also work on other motherboards

In BIOS, ensure that the XHCI Hand-Off is set to ENABLED (default is disabled)

I changed this, and now I can boot the system with USB devices inserted, and not get any Kernal-PnP warnings *Smile

    Hope this helps somebody else

  2. The driver \Driver\WudfRd failed to load for the device ACPI\ACPI0008\5&15d725f4&0.

    I have a Samsung Ativ Book 8 (NP880Z5E-X01UB)

I did several clean installs and all windows update.

Also Samsung Update drivers have been installed and are all up to date.

If my computer goes to sleep, or I close the lid and open it back up it crashes.

I'm seeing the following in event viewer.

The driver \Driver\WudfRd failed to load for the device ACPI\ACPI0008\5&15d725f4&0.

    Can anyone help

    Hi,
Thanks for the tip about setting WDF to automatic.. unfortunately it didn't help

I have now disabled the Portable Device Enumerator Service, which seems to have stopped the message... not sure if this is a good idea or not, as I am not quite sure if this service is needed

It is common to have this error, has been around for over a decade. The Windows Driver Foundation is looking for a device that was attached too the machine previously but which is not currently attached. If you know what device that may be, reattach it and see if the problem persists. If it does not then when you want to disconnect the device do so by taking the device offline first or eject the device.

The driver \Driver\WudfRd failed to load for the device (NB. FOR USB)

Not really rue in my case...
I installe dthe system clean, and the only USB device is my Windows 10 media device that I used to install from. This has stayed connected all the time from the time I installed (and I know it is the dvice, as the message clearly points to it)
The driver \Driver\WudfRd failed to load for the device SWD\WPDBUSENUM\_??_USBSTOR#Disk&Ven_Kingston&Prod_DataTraveler_3.0&Rev_PMAP#1C6F654E3F31EF6089826BCE &0#{53f56307-b6bf-11d0-94f2-00a0c91efb8b}.

No messages since I disabled the portable device enumerator

    Hi,

While that used to work on W8/8.1 it no longer works for W10

That or deleting the corresponding key in the registry (if Windows lets you) usually works for me.

The service isn't really needed. It's used to sync media content to external drives mostly.

    Hi,

Other then the two options provided ? Not that I'm aware of.
Just make it a habit to eject all usb devices before shutting down or restarting Windows. If not the error will keep on cropping up for as long as that service is running.

It's nothing problematic really, just Windows trying to do something that it obviously can't.

The driver \Driver\WudfRd failed to load for the device (NB. FOR USB)

    Hi,

The "Portable device Enumerator" service tries synchronizing media content to removable devices even if there's nothing to sync. Hence the error when that device is no longer present at boot.

You can boot, restart etc. with removable devices connected but once you remove one of them at boot, Windows will complain throwing this error at you.

This particular service is a bit odd as I don't know of any native app which allows you to set up what to sync to what and what not. Maybe it's ahead of its time. LOL.

The error in Event Viewer point to a particular device so using the Hive Key as a reference in Regedit allows you to remove that device and the error will vanish.

I have that service enabled (manual, trigger start) and unless I'm distracted and forget to remove a USB device it won't generate any errors. (On W10 AU Edition).

    Cheers, *Wink

  14. From blackviper.com
IMHO You can keep it disabled unless your computer is having a problem synchronizing / working with a media device. Then you can set it back to manual (is default) or try automatic if problem persists.
