Windows 10: The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available

I noticed that my Xbox game bar wasn't taking clips anymore so I googled that the issue might be due to my windows not being updated so I checked for updates and there was a couple but now I get a pop-up that say I need to put a disk or something into my pc, and obviously I don't have something like that otherwise I wouldn't be asking this question. The update is "for windows 10 for x64-based systems"I'm not sure if this issue needs an immediate fix because my games have been running fine but a solution would be greatly appreciated.

Visual C++ "The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available."

I recently went to install a game I found and it started the Visual C++ installation as a part of the process. And in the middle of the installation a window pops up that says "The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available.". and it prompts me to insert a CD to continue which I obviously do not have. I have had this issue now for over a year and have yet to find anything close to a solution. I am on a DELL laptop using integrated graphics, with an i7-4500U. If anyone has a fix to this I would greatly appreciate it as it has been a very big roadblock for me these past couple of days. Thank you!

 

CD-ROM not reading any disks

  • Select Hardware and Devices.
  • Click Run the troubleshooter.
  • Allow the scan to complete, and then follow the on-screen instructions to complete the fix.
• Try another CD/DVD for further isolation. If your device was able recognize other
  CD/DVD then the issue is not hardware related.

Cd Rom / Dvd Writer

Hi,

I have both Samsung CD ROM & LG DVD Writer(Both are internal). Since some days CD ROM is getting opened and trying to get closed all by its own.

I removed the power cord of CD ROM & again connected. This time it is not showing both the drives. It is showing only 1 drive and if i right click on that drive and select eject, both the drives are getting opened.

Is it anything related to virus? Do i need to install OS once again.
