  1. The File Explorer > symbol ... where are you?

Why doesn't the ">" symbol appear in my new HP laptop's File Explorer, Windows 10 Home in S mode? On my old laptop's File Manager, the > symbol appeared to the left of folders that have subfolders. I'd click on the > symbol and see the subfolders appear. Also the > symbol became a downward pointing symbol don't have one on my keyboard to show you, and the subfolders would go away when I clicked on that symbol.

    :)

  2. Erroneous symbols at the bottom left corner of desktop icons

I'm running Windows 10 with the latest updates. A few days ago, the icons for objects on the desktop changed appearance. The icons are correct but
all have a symbol at the bottom left corner:

    • Shortcuts show the correct shortcut symbol
    • All files erroneously show a shortcut symbol
    • Almost all folders erroneously show a shortcut symbol
    • Some folders erroneously show "X"

The icons for files and folders (including the Desktop folder) displayed using File Explorer are all normal.

    I would appreciate any suggestions.
