Windows 10: THE FINAL SOLOUTION TO **** UPDATES.

Go to C:\windows\system32\wuaueng.dll, It is the windows update dll file. Please go to properties, security, advanced, Change the owner to your user by typing in your user of course, Close the properties tab and open it again, Click Administrators two times and then click full control, apply, Then rename it to what ever **** you want, I named it to nomoreupdate, Now you will have no more updates aka the update service got tricked in his own game.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Vista Pre-SP1 vs. Vista SP1

I've been Windows Updating for two straight days and I finally saw SP1. If you want to troubleshoot it, follow these steps:

• Show hidden updates
• Manually install any failed updates (google the KB_____ and install from the windows site)
• Make sure everything in Device Manager is good to go

I had to do step two for like 4 or 5 updates to be able to see SP1.

Any other benchmarks you guys want to see? I might try PCMark05 (I think it works on Vista).

 

Finally successful update kb 3194798 for .321 status

THIS IS THE FIX THAT WORKS FOR 99% OF THE PLAGUED USERS

FINALLY got it to work for me following the footsteps of others who have gone down this path:

• delete folder C:\Windows\System32\Tasks\Microsoft\XblGameSave
• delete registry key:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Schedule\TaskCache\Tree\Microsoft \XblGameSave
• Re-run the update

Tried all the other methods that were suggested by others and they did not work for me.
