Windows 10: THE FIX for "Find Album Information" Windows Media Player

I was having difficulty updating my album info in Windows Media Player. I tried just about everything online to no avail. Then I followed these steps and it provided the resolution.


1. On the Start Menu - Type Manage Optional Features - You may have to enter your Admin credentials.

2. Scroll down and find Windows Media Player.

3. Click on it and select "Uninstall." It will disappear from the list.

4. Proceed to the top of the "Manage Optional Features" list and press the "+ Add a Feature."

5. Scroll all the way down the list, and select Windows Media Player, and select "Install."

6. Open up Windows Media Player, go to one of your Unknown Albums, and right click on the Album picture and select Find Album Information.

Find Album Information in Windows Media Player Does Not Work

Just checked my hosts file and it was there. That exact same thing happened to me actually.

• From where have you downloaded the songs?
  

However, you can follow the troubleshooting steps mentioned below:

1. Close Windows Media Player.
   
2. Press and hold the Windows + E key to open
   Windows explorer.
   
3. Navigate to C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Media Player\Art Cache
   
4. Delete all the files inside the
   Art Cache folder.
   
5. Restart Windows Media Player.

windows media player - find album information

Since I updated windows 10 the "find album information" process has changed. Previously a list of albums was provided and if not there it was possible to search for other possibles. Now very few choices are provide and no option to expand the search is
available. For example I exported an mp3 file from audacity into my library. Windows media player has created four different albums from 11 tracks one of which is the correct album but with only one track listed. I cannot change any of these labels unlike
before when a search option was available. The metadata information provider appears to have changed from fai.com to ssl.xboxlive.com and clearly they do not have the wealth of information that was available before. Why the change? Please change back.
