Windows 10: The image creation feature that comes with Windows 11 cannot be restored

The source image is Win11 22H2 build 23526.1000, I tried to mount a blank VMware virtual machine after creating the system image, there is no system installed on it, using the configuration of Windows 11. Enter the Windwos RE recovery environment through the U disk, the configuration is successfully read, but the recovery time is to prompt the system image restore failed 0x80042412, have tried to select disk 0 and clean, clean after the recovery configuration will prompt that you need to restart the computer, restart again again prompt the system image restore failed 0x80042412

Restoring Windows 10 Image using Macrium Reflect


In addition to the above. Here's my suggestion in step by step.
I assume you have Macrium Installed in your current HD and already made a backup copy.

1. Connect your new HD via USB port and boot up.
2. Run Macrium, click on Restore tab then select the Backup Image that you made to restore
3. click on "select a different target disk" then select your new HD as destination
   
   
   
4. Proceed to restore then Shutdown and disconnect the old HD and replace with the new HD
5. Boot up with your new HD.

 

Windows XP PRO error after restore

System restore is handy when it works like it did for me 2 days ago saving the need to reinstall all of my software as well as windows, id suggest using norton Ghost 12 for an excellent system restore feature.

I encountered this problem after installing the Windows 10 Creators Update.

After deleting all previous restore points on my system and making sure the VSS service was enabled, I followed the above recommendations and successfully created a restore point.

None of the scans indicated the presence of a problem so I suggest that you NOT give up if your sfc and dism scans come back clean.
