The latest BIOS update on my laptop turned on BitLocker -This seems like a production bug?

Hello. My laptop just did a firmware update, and immediately after this I was locked out of BitLocker. I DO NOT have BitLocker set up on my laptop, I have never set this up, I have never locked any folders. I see my device listed in my associated email account now shows that is bitlocked, however my associated email account does not have any BitLocker keys because this was not set up by me. I checked my laptop system logs I can still get to the bio setup by hitting f12 and bypassing the BitLocker screen And I see that the last updates were "firmware update successful" followed by, "Time-of-d

turning off Bitlocker in Windows 10, latest update

I upgraded to the latest version of Windows 10 on my HP Pavilion X360 and now the laptop won't shut down correctly. I have to physically shut down the laptop with the power switch. According to a discussion group comment, I need to update the BIOS. The
HP website says I need to turn off Bitlocker before updating the BIOS. The directions for turning off Bitlocker that I have found say to go to Control Panel (which no longer exists but is "settings"....) and go to System and Security (which appears to also
no longer exist). Another approach suggested online is to go to Encryption, which also seem to be non-existent. If I enter Bitlocker, System and Security, or Encryption, Cortana simply sends me to Bing which gives me websites with the same information about
going to System and Security. Do I need to turn off Bitlocker in the lastest iteration of Windows 10 and, if so, how?

turning off Bitlocker in Windows 10, latest update

    Hi Casey,

It doesn't necessary to turn off Bitlocker when updating BIOS, however, the Bitlocker key will not be recognized after you reboot your computer. Before updating the BIOS, we suggest checking first the solution provided by
    Andre Da Costa from this
link to resolve the shut down issue.

If the solution provided didn't resolve the issue, and you really need to update the BIOS, please see the steps below on how to suspend the BitLocker:

    • Press Windows key. Type Control Panel, then hit
      Enter.
    • Select System and Security.
    • Select BitLocker Drive Encryption.
    • Select Suspend Protection.
    • Once the BitLocker is already suspended, you may proceed with the BIOS update.
Note: You don't have to turn off the BitLocker to update the BIOS, you may just suspend its protection.
