The latest update blew up my computer!

    hello,
a few days I decided to update my windows 10 to the latest November upgrade. I was having occasional display flickering problems and thought that can't make matters worse so I gave it a try. Boy was I wrong...
After that the flickering problem became much worse and there was a continuous refresh every few seconds. I could only access some programs and my folders only through task manager and cmd.

After that, I decided to use the advance options and select to restore my windows prior to the update. That turned out to make things even worse. Windows would not start and all repairing options failed. I was only able to use the cmd from the booting options given, from which I could see all my files and run some repair commands found on the web.

Since nothing changed, i decided to bring my laptop to professionals and see if they can manage to repair it. Unfortunately they did not.

Now not only windows are unable to boot, but also all options from the recovery environment fail.

Most important is that I cannot run cmd anymore and so I dont know how to save some of my files or try to restore from some old backups. Windows came with the laptop and no cd/dvd.

Can you please help to recover my files and help me format my laptop if not possible to restore from my backups?

    thank you

    :)

The video linked from the Swedish overclocking site also suggests that the resistor blew, which sits right next to the 8-pin plugs. W1zz took it one step further and blew out a mosfet as well, though.

The latest update blew up my computer!

Windows Updated(16299.309).KB4088776 Restart is required to complete.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Thanks for the suggestions and for the time to respond The latest update blew up my computer! :) Best regards.

And thanks for the tip of that program, I'll have it on my list.
