background (wallpaper) seems to be hung


I see on my background a picture from a series of pictures I wanted for a slide show. Went to Settings/Personalization/Backgrond and followed the steps once upon a time and I think it worked? Anyway, now the app appears to be hung and I don't know how to get it working. I've tried going through the settings and can change the background (behind the slideshow) color but nothing else. I found your forum and tried many of the ideas suggested to no avail. Can someone suggest how to get it working again?

 

apps that use the service svchost downloaded map manager or MapBroker crash

After update to windows 10 10586 the Maps app crashes on startup. So does the newest version of the Accuweather app. And the The Weather Channel app crashes when you click on the map icon to get radar or satellite images.

The included Microsoft weather app doesn't crash when displaying a radar image, but that map can't be zoomed down to the city and street level so I think it's using a built in higher level map of the united states.

I am on 10586.29 with updates as of 12/18/2015. I have run the app troubleshooter and system file checker with no improvement.

If I run task manager at the same time I run either the Accuweather or Weather Channel app I can see an svchost process named 'downloaded map manager' start and stop and the weather app crash. Their are event viewer messages when those apps crash referencing
either the downloaded map manager or the mapbroker.

Any suggestions?

Increase the window size step by step and watch your vga temps permanently.
What happens?
If it crashes, run at stock speeds as suggested before and retry.

P.S.: When your system locks, does the display signal turn off after a time?
Stuttering sound or no sound at all when freezing?
What X1800XT model do you own exactly?
