    The master file table's (MFT) BITMAP attribute is incorrect.


    CHKDSK C: reports the following:


    The master file table's (MFT) BITMAP attribute is incorrect.
    The Volume Bitmap is incorrect.
    Windows has checked the file system and found problems.
    Please run chkdsk /scan to find the problems and queue them for repair.


    After running CHKDSK C: /scan I ran CHKDSK C: again and got the same result as above.

    It seems CHKDSK cannot resolve the master file table's (MFT) BITMAP attribute error.


    How do I fix the MFT bitmap error?

    Master file table (MFT) usage at 100%

    Basically im worried that my MFT usage is listed at 100% in the post-defragmentation report after running:

    Defrag c: /v

    Master file table (MFT) usage at 100%

    No need to worry, system tries to keep a free space just after MFT - so called MFT zone - to keep MFT non-fragmented if there will be needed to increase it size. In addition, small MFT fragmentation does not have noticeable negative effect.

    No taskbar desktop or file explorer icons plus other errors

    I have tried all your suggestion and nothing fixed so far. All tests are coming back clean. The only thing that mentioned an error was in CHKDSK, which said

    Usn Journal verificataion complete

    The master file tables *MFT( BITMAP attribute is incorrect.

    The Volume bitmap is incorrect

    Windows has checked the file system and found problems

    Please run chkdsk /scan to find the problems and queue them for repair

    ...

    0kb in Bad sectors

    I ran chkdsk /scan but nothing found

    I am overseas for an extended period of time and really do not want to do a clean instal as I do not have all my software with me.

    Any other ideas, thanks
