  1. the memory usage is going crazy and the task manager and resources monitor are not helping

I noticed two weeks ago that the memory usage never drops under 87% while I don't run heavy programs, actually it's the browser (I open Reddit and Twitter) with telegram and sometimes VLC and that's it. this thing is crazy because I used to complain about Firefox using over 1GB of RAM, and now even if it drops under 300MB (which is weird because it usually consumes 400MB in fresh start without opening anything). I know that Windows doesn't want to let any memory wasted without usage and if I opened something else it will manage, but this became ridiculous because now my PC became very laggy and if I open something else it takes time to adapt to the memory necessities and Firefox started started crashing and restarting every hour and this never happened to before even when using Firefox Nightly. I followed the typical troubleshooting processes that you can find in the internet.

PS: While writing this post, memory usage reached 93%

  2. Task manager and resource monitor show wrong memory usage

Greetings. I have 10 gb of RAM, so task manager telling me that I'm using 4.6 gb of ram total. But, you won't get even 2 gb if you sum all values below:

    Imgur

The same in resource monitor. I read that the "commit" represent memory that showed in regular task manager, but even if you get wrong column with biggest numbers they won't give you the total result that is showed by the system.

I've also tried to use "RamMap", but it doesn't work for me...

Task manager not showing complete memory usage?

Hi, I have 4GB of DDR3 ram on my laptop. When I go into the task manager to check how much ram is being used, it says only 795MB and yet it also says that 94% is being used.

This is always the case, of course with varying numbers. The memory usage shown does not coordinate with the percentage, but the computer performance certainly correlates with the percentage.

When I check in cpu-z, it does confirm that the 4GB are all installed. What is going on here?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

    Update #2:
Ah, I missed the performance tab which does indeed show all of the correct total amount of ram being used. Now how do I find all of the individual processes and services using those resources?

the memory usage is going crazy and the task manager and resources monitor are not helping

    Task Manager RAM Usage

My computer is running 64 bit Windows 10 with 6 GB of RAM.

I have been monitoring my memory usage via Task Manager and occasionally download tasklist via the cmd line.

What has been bothering me is that my RAM usage at reboot starts at 34%, and left alone, increases to ~75-80% without running any programs.
(I do have start up programs including McAfee, Dropbox, Seagate console, gadgets, etc.)

When I analyze the tasklist download file via Excel, the total RAM memory usage is approximately 3.1 GB at 79%.
Doing the math, this means there is only 4 GB in use?

    I have 2 questions:

    1. Does Task Manager list all the RAM usage or is there some background usage that is not shown.?

    2. Is there any other way to monitor RAM leakage?
