Windows 10: the network adapter is missing and cannot connect to the internet

Hello, I accidentally messed up something on my computer when I tried to add my laptop and connect it with my other laptop to have multiple displays and ever since then my WiFi option disappeared. I tried to go to device manager and all I see is Bluetooth and WAN Miniport options, I tried network restore option, I even tried to reset to factory settings and still nothing. I tried to add drive and but I am having a hard time with the laptop not connecting to the internet and it seems the network adapter is missing. Please help!

Losing network connection

Hello Dear, if you have a laptop or a PC with a wireless network adapter, you can see a list of available wireless networks and then connect to one of those networks. The wireless networks will only appear if your PC has a wireless network adapter installed, the adapter is turned on, and the wireless access point is in range.

1. Click Start, click Control Panel, click Network and Internet Connections, and then click Network Connections.

2. In the left pane, under Network Tasks, click View available wireless networks.
In case, If you don't see the network you want to connect to, click Refresh network list. If you see the network but the signal is weak, move the PC closer to the wireless router.

3. Click the network you want to connect to, and then click Connect.

4. If you're connecting to a secure network, type the security key, and then click OK.

Microsoft Hosted Virtual Network Adapter is Missing

Hi Arthur,

There's a possibility that the Internet Connection Sharing is not enabled on your machine. To enable it, follow the steps below:

• Right-click the Windows key, then select Network Connections.
• Right-click the network adapter with an Internet connection (could be Ethernet or wireless network adapter), then select
  Properties.
• Click Sharing tab.
• Under Internet Connection Sharing, check the Allow other network users to connect through this computer’s Internet connection option.
  
• On the Home networking connection drop-down menu, select the
  Microsoft Hosted Virtual Adapter.
• Click OK to finish.
