Windows 10: The option "Show recently used files" under privacy in folder options resets when clicking...

I want to be able to see my recently used files in my home folder. But when I try to check and enable the option it unchecks itself when I either click APPLY or OK. I'm unable to upload an image of the window so here is a link to the image. https://i.vgy.me/M4RfNj.png I'm on Windows 11 Home version 23H2. I used to be able to see recently used files but after a update they disappeared.

Pinned & Recent Folder Missing From Explorer in Start

Recent folder

Please try the following methods to operate in Windows 10:

To Restore "Recent Items" to Quick Access:

1. Open File Explorer: Press Win + E to open a new File Explorer window.
   
2. Go to Folder Options:
   
   • In Windows 10, click on "View" in the menu, then click on "Options" on the right side.
     
   • In Windows 11, click on the three dots (ellipsis) menu and select "Options".
     
3. Adjust Privacy Settings:
   
   • In the Folder Options dialog, go to the "General" tab.
     
   • Under the "Privacy" section, make sure to check "Show recently used files in Quick access" and "Show frequently used folders in Quick access".
     
   • Click "Apply", then "OK" to save your changes.
     

To Pin Recent Items to Quick Access:

• If you specifically want a "Recent Items" folder in Quick Access, you can pin it manually. However, Windows doesn't have a straightforward "Recent Items" folder accessible to users in newer versions like Windows 10 and 11. Instead, it integrates recent items into the Quick Access view. If you had a specific folder you used for recent items, you could pin it by navigating to the folder, right-clicking it, and selecting "Pin to Quick Access".
  

If You Cannot Find Recent Items or Quick Access Isn't Working:

• Reset Quick Access:
  
  • Close File Explorer.
    
  • Press Win + R, type %AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\AutomaticDestinations, and press Enter.
    
  • Delete everything in this folder (these are the custom shortcuts and history for Quick Access, and they'll be recreated as you use your PC).
    
  • Do the same in %AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\CustomDestinations.
    
  • Reopen File Explorer, and your Quick Access should reset.
    

If you still can't retrieve the deleted folder, there may be no better way at the moment.
