Windows 10: The same name twice on windows 11 logon

I recently tried to disable the password sign in option on Windows 11. I ran netplwiz and unchecked the option to require a password on login. Now when I boot my computer there are two user accounts showing with the same name. I am the Administrator on my computer and there are no other authorized users in my settings. How can I get rid of the duplicate name on logon. It would be great if I could disable the requirement for a password but everything I've tried to do that has failed. Thanks so much for your suggestions.

Sorry, but I'm confused. You said: "Once you have taken that precaution, you should use NetPlwiz again to 1 undo the automatic logon you set up, 2 then reboot, 3 then you can use NetPlwiz again to re-do the automatic logon." And I said I didn't know how to undo the automatic logon I set up. So what is option 1 and what is step 3? - - - Updated - - - One last question (hopefully): if I want to automatically log in to my Microsoft account do I first have to set up a user with my email address as the user name? Looking at Accounts, Email & Accounts in Setup, my Microsoft account is listed under Accounts used by other apps. But it is not listed in netplwiz. Under Your Info, my email address appears under my original local user account name.

I would suggest you to refer to the below steps and check if it helps:

If you are using local account then follow these steps and check if that helps:

a. Press Windows key + X and click Control Panel.

b. Select User Account

c. Under Make changes to your user account, click on
Change your account name

If you are using Microsoft account then follow the given link:

log in and edit your details.



I would also suggest you to refer to the steps to protect your pc that makes users to must enter password to use computer.

a. Press Windows+R key on the keyboard.

b. Type netplwiz and hit Enter.

c. under user tab place a check mark which say
user must enter user name and password to use this computer.
