  2. Problem with Apps that Running as Administrator

    Hi,

Running programs as an administrator can be set checking the properties of the app it self. For us to isolate the issue, we would like to ask these questions:

    • Have you made any changes to your computer prior to this issue?
    • What is the exact error message are you getting? It is better if you could provide to us a screenshot.

  3. How to remove Run As Administrator from an app

    Hi Davidin,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

Provide us additional information to assist you better with this issue:

    1. What is the name of the applications on which you’re facing the issue?
    2. What happens when you try to launch the applications?
    3. What is the specific error code/error message you’ve received?
    4. Is your device connected to domain network?
    5. Which version of Windows is installed on your device?
Refer the article ‘Which version of Windows operating system am I running
    to provide the details.

However, you may try the below suggested methods to remove Run as administrator from the context menu.

    Method 1

Note: Please ensure you’ve logged in as an administrator before performing the below steps.

    1. Right click on the program’s shortcut or exe file and choose
      Properties.
    2. Switch to compatibility tab and Uncheck the box which is next to “Run this program as an administrator
    3. Click on Apply and OK.
    4. Repeat the same steps for the other application for which you wanted to remove Run as administrator from the context menu.
If you do not see any changes after trying Method 1, you may try Method 2.

    Method 2

    1. Click on Start, type in Control Panel.
    2. Go to System and security group of settings > Click on
Security & Maintenance and expand the options under Security.
    3. Scroll down and see the Windows SmartScreen section.
    4. Click on Change settings(You’’ need admin rights to make these changes)
    5. Toggle the options to Warn before running an unrecognized app, but don’t require administrator approval.
    6. Click on OK and check the status of the issue.

If the issue still persists, please reply to us with the details mentioned above and we will assist you further.

  4. The specific app runs only if I run it as an administrator

Windows 10 Photos app doesn't run.

    Hi,

Incompatible software installed in your PC can conflict with Windows apps and cause performance issues. We can suggest several troubleshooting steps to isolate and resolve the issue. As an initial recommendation, you can run the

    Windows app troubleshooter
. This will identify the cause of the issue and provide you further suggestions for troubleshooting steps.

If the issue persists, you can uninstall the Photos app and reinstall it by doing the steps below:

    • Type Windows PowerShell in the search box at the taksbar.
    • In the search results, right click on Windows PowerShell and
      Run as administrator.
    • On the Powershell prompt, type: get-appxpackage *Microsoft.Windows.Photos* | remove-appxpackage.
    • Press Enter.
    • Once uninstalled, you can reinstall the app from this
      link
      .

Let us know if the suggestions above worked for you.
