Windows 10: The Start Menu of two Microsoft accounts on this current computer is not working.

The Start Menu of my wife’s and son's Microsoft accounts on this current computer is not working. It takes at least 7 to 10 minutes for any of these accounts to start the computer. The waiting screen says, "We're preparing Windows". Once the computer is open, the message box shows "Critical Error. Your Start menu is not working. We'll try to fix it the next time you sign in. Sign out now". Such is the repeated scene each time I log in to any of these two accounts on this computer. Also, once open, all the settings, folders, and files of those two Microsoft accounts are gone. You must take note

• Have you installed all the pending updates on your system?
• Did you make any recent software/hardware changes to your computer?

As an initial troubleshooting step I would suggest you to install all the pending updates on your system and if you are using Microsoft account suggest you to sign out and sign in again and check if resolves the issue.

          When you say "If I sign in under my user name I am in some earlier version", which version you are referring to?

          Did you made any recent changes to your computer prior to the issue?

          When you say “I cannot access the start menu and am limited to IP as a browser” Is it refers to Microsoft Edge?
          

As an initial steps, I suggest you to check for the Windows version. To do so, follow the below steps:

1) Login to your computer through user name on which it show earlier version of Windows.

2) Press Windows key + r.

3) Type winver, hit enter.

Let's try the below steps and check if it helps:

Step 1: Update Display drivers.

I would suggest you to update your graphic card drivers and check if it helps.

You can update drivers from the Device Manager.

• • Right click on start button and click on Device manager.
    
  • Select Display Drivers and expand it.
  • Right click on the device and select Update driver.

Step 2: If the issue persists uninstall and reinstall drivers.

1. Press
Windows key + R key.

2. Type
devmgmt.msc and press Enter.

3. In device manager go to Display adapter.

4. Right click and select uninstall.

After you uninstall the drives, I suggest you to reinstall the latest drivers from the manufacturing website and check.
