Windows 10: The touchpad buttons arent working suddenly

I have a HP Envy, fully updated on windows10. Just woke up today to work on my laptop and the right/left "buttons" area dont really work when i press. the touchpad itself works so using one/two fingers i can work, but i dont understand what to do.i tried checking for touchpad updates but nothing. I think i managed to do troubleshooting and nothing.any advice?

• What is the name and version of your touchpad and driver?
• Is the update you're referring to is a cumulative update or an upgrade from Windows 10 Creators Update to Fall Creators Update?
• Aside from reinstalling the driver, can you provide us with all the troubleshooting steps that you've done so far?
  
• What version of Windows 10 was it running before?

 

Windows 10 Start button and touchpad won't work

I have two issues after upgrading to Windows 10:

• Touchpad doesn't work. I have seen several posts where the touchpad will not work after installing windows 10, but I have not found any solutions for my HP laptop. Has anyone found a solution?
• My start button does not work, I can only get to my files through explorer. Any suggestions?

I suggest you to follow the methods below and check if it fixes the issue.

Method 1: Run Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter

Follow these steps to run Hardware and Devices troubleshooter:

• Press Windows key + W and type troubleshooting.
• Select Troubleshooting.
• Select View all on the top left corner.
• Click Hardware and Devices.
• Follow the on-screen instruction to run the troubleshooter.

Method 2: Uninstall and reinstall the driver

I suggest you to try uninstall the Touchpad drivers check if it works for you.

Follow the steps to uninstall the Touchpad drivers:

• Press Windows Key + X key and click Device Manager.
• Right-click on the Touchpad device listed and click on ‘Uninstall’.
• Select the option to Delete driver software.
• Restart the computer after its uninstalled.

Try to access the device manufacturer's website and download and install the latest chipset and touchpad drivers.
