Windows 10: The troubleshooting wizard can not continue. Error code 0x80070005.

I've been at this situation for a while and I'm losing patience.


When right clicking on any program located on my desktop (.ink shortcuts) or in File Explorer, and running the compatibility troubleshooter, this comes up.




Running the troubleshooting wizard always leads to failure, as stated above. Previously when running the troubleshooter I received a different error code (0x80070057). After looking around the internet and making a few tweaks , a new error code has shown up.


Some Context:

• Before I realized that something was wrong with the troubleshooter, I recently downloaded some free ware that included an old game.
• This game was legit, and after scanning multiple times with Webroot and WDO, no viruses or malware were found.
• When updating Windows via Windows Update, the updates have went through successfully with no error code showing up. It is only when troubleshooting a programs compatibility, that this error shows up.
• I have run Sfc /scannow through Command Prompt, as well as DISM.exe, with no corruption found.
• I have renamed catroot2 and SoftwareDistribution folder via Command Prompt, but nothing has changed,
• I have messed around with Environment Variables, with no success.

-When troubleshooting specifically for Windows Update, this came up.


This surprised me, because no corruption was found previously in other scans. I ran this troubleshooter for Windows Update about 10 times, getting the same results. It's as if the results are being faked.


*I have no problems with starting apps and programs, such as Support Assist, Microsoft Edge, Windows Store, and Chrome.

*When starting up Windows 10 Update Assistant though, it scans for updates, then immediately says thank you.




-This is weird to me, because when i ran the Windows Update Troubleshooter with similar results and then ran the W10 Update Assistant, terms and conditions popped up with an accept and decline option. But after running the troubleshooter again, it reverted back to the screenshot above.


*-I was considering deleting my Admin User Profile, if it had a possibility of being corrupted, as well as reinstalling W10, but I wanted suggestions from the community first. I have not booted Safe Mode or Clean Boot because I don't know what to look for and where the problem is.


-If you have any questions about my situation, feel free to ask. I have given the most info and what I have done myself to help my laptop, but I am out of ideas now. Please help, SOS!

I created a local account on my laptop, and signed in to it.

This is the first thing that popped up:





Im not completely sure what this means.

I ran the compatibility troubleshooter on a few programs, and the troubleshooter actually seemed to work. I received no error code when troubleshooting.

-But when I troubleshooted Windows Update because I realized that all my files carried on to the new local account, I received a message that stated the Windows Update Database was corrupted.

Results from the Local Account I just made.

*So from what I see, my files are definitely corrupted. But why can't Windows fix it and why did sfc /scannow + DISM not find any problems?


*My final option is to do a clean boot, but does this shed any light on anything else that can be done?
