    I just upgraded my laptop with SSD and RAM

    I used to have 4GB of ram so I changed it with 8GB stick, My laptop has only one slot for RAM after changing now it is showing that the usable memory is only 6.89 GB can anyone tell me what is going on ? and is it for good or else it's just wasting the memory

    Usable RAM

    The RAM is recognized. In BIOS it shows exact amount installed, Windows also shows exact amount installed but limits usable RAM.

    Newly installed RAM is not usable.

    I had 2 gb ram during windows 10 upgrade. I added 1 gb new ram. Now it is showing Installed ram is 3 gb but usable only 1.68 gb. My os s 32 bit. Please help to make it use all the 3gb ram.

    Hi There,

    I've just upgraded my pc from 4GB RAM to 8GB RAM. Windows seems to have detected this upgrade but why does it show as only 4GB RAM available. The following is what I have tried so far with no luck:

    • I have tried the msconfig method on ensuring maximum memory is not checked.
    • physically removed the new RAM and reinstalled it
    Any thoughts/suggestions on how i can resolve this matter?
