    The Username or Password is Incorrect. Try again.


    Error message on startup at login: the username or password is incorrect. try again.


    This happens on two machines, one being the replacement for the other which will be restored and moved to a different location.


    The default user shown on startup is not and has never been a user, nor is one of the other "suggestions" given on the lower left. And no password has worked.


    The correct one, the Microsoft user, is available at a click, fortunately, so I CAN get on, but I can't get either machine to log in automatically anymore as the "netplwiz" command no longer has the check box for "user does not need to log in".


    This is a royal pain. Much of what help is available on the Interweb is out of date.


    I just want a fix.


    If I knew where the information was stored I could likely get rid of it.

    Username or password incorrect


    I've previously run netplwiz from the command prompt to disable the sign in process in Windows 10.

    The Username or Password is Incorrect. Try again. [​IMG]


    Which worked fine in build 10049 but in 10158 & 10166 I now get this error message


    The Username or Password is Incorrect. Try again. [​IMG]


    I don't understand how this message can appear as no password has been entered at this stage.
    Pressing OK, or waiting 2 minutes results in this screen


    The Username or Password is Incorrect. Try again. [​IMG]


    Entering the PIN or password from the sign-in option continues the login process.
    Apart from starting again from scratch, any ideas on how to correct this.

    Username or password incorrect


    I agree that the lock screen is useless, pressing any key raises it to reveal your email!
    They should hide the email!
    You can, however, login in to OneDrive and edit your moniker and create an alias email, which doesn't exist and is not verified.

    The Username or password is incorrect

    I tried to sign on to my computer this morning and got the message that my username and password is incorrect. I 've had the same password for years. I went to safe mode and then to safe mode with command prompt and then it said that Windows 7 will boot
    up to the login in screen, I don't know what else to do after that. It goes back to the login screen...
