Windows 10: "The verification method isn't working" fix when you don't have another verification method

In microsoft account "*** Email address is removed for privacy ***" , the account is locked. When I tried to unlock it through the verification code sent in SMS, it says "The Verification method isn't working right now. Please try another method." But the problem is I only had the phone number as the method of verification due to which I can't login into my window.

Verification Method of Microsoft Account

I used the wrong verification method. I am supposed to use the authenticator app but used my personal phone number instead and now my account is semi-verified (which I cannot log onto). Is there anyway I can un-verify it and go through the verification process
again?
