Windows 10: The Windows 10 update 1909 is stuck on the loading stage for the past 24 hours

For the past 24 hours my old HP dv6 laptop has been stuck on this screen -

"Preparing to configure Windows. Don't turn off your computer"

It's not frozen as the loading animation is playing but it is not progressing further.

I need to know if this will ever finish or do I need to cancel it by force shut down n recovering my system using a back up or system restore.

The last update was an update to Windows 10 1909 KB4565483.

Hi Anil

If that update has been stuck on 'Preparing to configure Windows .. ' for 24 hours, you have no choice, you need to restart your PC . . .

Press and hold the Power Button on your PC for 5 - 10 seconds to perform a hard shut down

Wait a few seconds . . .

Start your PC again, that update should then begin to proceed, or it will roll back to the previous version of Windows 10 . . .

  I have attempted anniversary update six times. This time I booted my notebook with a USB device made from my desktop which has been successfully updated to anniversary edition, to fix any startup problems. I also followed your procedure, above. The update
  will download, and load. At 25% on bluescreen, it will restart and load to 75% and then it tries to restart but stalls for hours. I then force power off and on twice and it re-installs old version of Windows 10.
