Windows 10: The Windows 11 default username - where is it coming from and how can I change it?

Hi, this is an issue related to installing Windows 11 Pro in a PC I purchased. My friend gave me a Windows 11 Pro USB boot drive that he made, so that I could install it. The SSD in this PC is entirely new. For some reason, on installation it gives his first name as the main user. I wouldn't mind this, except in c:\users, it is his name on the folder. And I can't seem to change this. I don't mind doing another clean install, but how is his name linked to the installation? The SSD is entirely new. Press the “Windows + R” shortcut to launch the RUN utility. After that, type lusrmgr.msc and press Enter. This will launch the Local Users and Groups console in Windows 11.

In the Local Users and Groups console, you will see the list of all user accounts. This list includes the default user accounts (Administrator, DefaultAccount, Guest, and WDAGUtilityAccount) and your account.

to rename or change the username or account name of your account in Windows 11, right-click on it and select Rename.

After that, type the new username and press Enter.

After changing the name, it’s time to change the full name of your account in Windows 11. So, right-click on your account and select Properties.

Now, in the properties window, type the new full name for your account. After that, click Apply and OK to save the changes.

Now restart your Computer.

If the above steps do not help, create another admin account, transfer your files and delete this user.

Settings (Win+I) > Accounts > Other users > Add account.

After adding a new account, change the account type to Administrator.

You can follow the steps below to change the username and check if it helps.

• Press Windows key + X key.
• Click on Control Panel.
• Under view, select large icons.
• Go to User Account.
• Click on Manage another account.
• Select the User Account for which you want to select the password.
• Click on Change the username.
• Click on Change Name button.
