  1. The windows 11 scan tool says i am in legacy mode, but my bios says UEFI is enabled

Hi,I have been trying to install Windows 11 for a little while now with no luck. I'm on a Gigabyte 470 Ultra motherboard, with UEFI and the capability to run secure boot. I have been into the BIOS and made sure that it is active and in the correct mode to work with windows.Windows, however seems to believe it isn't activated. If I look in the MSInfo32 page it says 'unsupported' under secure boot, but this is obviously not the case, since I have been in the bios and activated it. As such I obviously cannot install Win11 through the health check as it says I don't have secure

Discovered system BIOS mode is "legacy" not UEFI

By accident, while I was setting up a new SSD on my laptop, and reading the web I discovered a thread about UEFI with a series of precautions to take in order to guarantee UEFI mode.

I went to check my devices, and laptop and surface are indeed in UEFI mode. But my main PC, with all the requisites, 64 bit windows 8 (8.1 Update), Asus ROG Maximus V UEFI bios... is in LEGACY mode, as reported by System Information.

You should also check! It is supposed to be faster and more secure.

Now I am wondering what to do to change from Legacy to UEFI mode, and any help is much appreciated.

    Edit: I found a tool http://www.paragon-software.com/home/solutions/migration.html?id=0008

Windows fails to detect UEFI BIOS, assumes Legacy instead

    Hi,

Due to some string of events, my computer has quick boot enabled in BIOS. I need to load UEFI to change some things, and am unable to because this setting is enabled. I assumed there was a way to reboot into UEFI from inside Windows 10, so I looked up how
and found the answer: There is an option in the "Advanced startup" menus to do this. Unfortunately, this option seems to be hidden if Windows 10 erroneously detects that you are using legacy BIOS instead of UEFI. This appears to be the case in my current install
(in MSINFO the BIOS Mode is set to Legacy).

    My questions are:

    • How do I change BIOS Mode to UEFI in my current install?
    • How do I make sure this remains the case in future OS resets/reformats?
    • Similarly, when building other computers in the future, how do I make sure Windows 10 does not make this same error?

    My questions are not:

    • How do I access my BIOS despite Windows 10 misidentifying my BIOS Mode?

    Thank you for your time,

    Alex

    Quick UEFI/Legacy question

I think it used to say, BIOS mode UEFI, but could it be on legacy because my sapphire hd 7970 only have legacy, gigabyte hd 7970 have uefi?
