Windows 10: The Windows 11 TPM reversal screwed me

Back in the day, I paid attention to Windows 11 news. It requires TPM 2.0 !!!I had about 20 computers in my house none of them with TPM 2.0. So Windows 11 wasn't going on them.About a year ago, I could see that Windows 10 support was going to go away, so I started buying some small cheap Windows 11 machines - because Windows 11 = TPM 2.0 right?Turns out that Microsoft, in your INFINITE wisdom created a TPM 2.0 Bypass, so vendors were able to install Windows 11 on machines, and sell you a Windows 11 machine - without a TPM 2.0 module.But that means that now that I have a Windows 11 machine, w

Need help on whether to clear TPM on not

It's clear as mud. As far as I can tell, it's specific to Windows, not necessarily activated programs like MacAfee, games, etc etc etc. MS Office, I have no idea.

TPM update

Don't know if this is the right place for this thread but whatever, laptop informed me that " a firmware update is needed for you security processor (TPM)," now, i looked up what to do and from a microsoft support thing, the last step says to clear the tpm. it has a warning saying to back up my data, i would like to know what clearing the tpm does, and what measures i need to take to make sure nothing goes wrong.

 

TPM support

The TPM 2.0 specifications can be implemented by a hardware chip, in which case it will be listed in the bios as 'TPM'. Newer processors can also support a firmware implementation of TPM 2.0. This is where it gets confusing as that may be listed in the bios as fTPM or PTT. All implementations of TPM 2.0, hardware or firmware, will meet the W11 requirements.
