The Xbox app resets it's volume level to the max system volume on every start up. This leads to possibly very loud sounds when for example watching a game trailer. Changing the system volume to a lower level is not appropriate, as this makes every other app that can actually have it's volume saved become very quiet. I would like to be able to save the volume at a certain level separate to the system volume, avoids my ear drums ringing which will impact whether I continue to subscribe to game pass. Any solution would be great. I'm using - Edition Windows 10 Pro Version 21H1 Installed on ‎7/‎02/

Xbox Game Bar doesn't show the volume mixer

    EDIT:

    • Edit 1: still no actual answer for a way to fix this. But I just factory reset my PC, the volume mixer works perfectly now. I know this is not the answer you wanted, but it's all we have
Before I go into details do not suggest:

    • Fixing my audio driver by updating/removing it
    • Resetting the Xbox Game Bar app
    • Doing the 'sfc /scannow 'command
    • Telling me to use the volume mixer built into windows
    • Referring me to the Xbox Game Bar app troubleshooting page

OK, now that we go that out of the way. I have had this problem for about 3 weeks. The issue is that the Xbox Game Bar doesn't display the volume mixer correctly, it only shows the main audio driver's volume mixer and nothing else (no app volume mixer like:
CS:GO, Microsoft Edge Beta, Spotify etc.).

For the Microsoft employees reading this, this is a persistent issue in Windows. I will list other posts on this forum with the same issue to show the scale of the issue. All of these posts have not been solved so far:

  3. volume mixer in taskbar in WIndows 10

    Hi Caroline,

The requirement of pinning Volume mixer to the taskbar is currently not available in Windows 10. However, you can view Volume mixer from the volume control icon located in the system tray.

Before we assist further, I would like to ask you a few questions:

    • Are you not able to see volume icon or the volume mixer on the computer?

    • If volume icon, have you enabled the option to show in the system tray?

If you want to view Volume mixer on the PC and have enabled volume icon on the system tray, follow the steps below and check if the issue is resolved.

    • Right click on the volume icon and select
      Open Volume Mixer
      from the context menu.

    • Check if the window is accessible on the computer.

Note: The option to pin Volume mixer to the taskbar is not currently available on the computer.

Write to us with the status of pinning Volume mixer on taskbar in the same post for further assistance. Your reply is most important for us to ensure we assist you accordingly.

    Thank you.
