Windows 10: there is a epic gmes folder that wont delete how do i delete it from C:\Program Files x86...

i am not able to delete it plese help me delete it whenver i try it says its running in another application in behind

C windows installer folder - Delete?

He can do symbolic link redirection and move the files in it to a different location. *Wink
Better try it out in a virtual of first. Just a suggestion.

Like:
First move everything in c:\windows\installer to d:\installercache
Then delete c:\windows\installer folder
Then type this in command mode as admin
mklink /d c:\windows\installer d:\installercache

Removing those installer files is a bad idea. it might prevent you from updating or uninstalling apps.

Hi Imran, which folder in C:\Program Files (x86) are you trying to delete. In general program files folders are managed by Windows. Usually when you uninstall an application from Settings App - Apps, the application folder will be deleted!

I've followed these steps, changing first the ownership of the specific directory I want to delete from to my account and given myself full control, and still cannot delete the folder. I switched it then to administrators ownership since my account is
part of that group, no go. I then turned off system protection on the entire C:\ drive and I still cannot delete from that folder. This is a very typical \program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\<game dir> path where games are regularly modded.
