Windows 10: There lock icon on file\folder which does not allow me to open or share my files.

There is a lock icon on my files and i can't open or share them, these files are on my external hard drive. this is done from windows 7 on my old desktop which i don't have now. and i want to access these files, I already tried some methods such as taking ownership, using third party app, but none of them works. so please help me to solve this problem.

cannot open files on network shared drive

we use kitchen design software, and store all the drawings on a separate computer (sort of like a server, as it also hosts our quickbooks company files). I have enabled all available permission settings, and i still have an issue. the program saves the drawings as *.kit files, which can be opened by double clicking them. the only way to open the file is to drag and drop it to the desktop, and then it opens. is there any way to set something up where i can double click the file in the shared folder to open the drawing? when i double click the file on the shared folder, the design program opens up but it does not load the drawing. so would this be an issue with the program, or the shared folder?

 

Windows 10 Lock Icon


I am having issues being able to paste files into a folder that has a lock icon on it. I am not the owner of the folder, my boss is. I am using Windows Pro 10 and my boss is using Windows 8.1. I can open files contained within the folder but cannot paste files into the folder. I have opened properties and gone to the security tab and I am listed within the Group or user names list and my permissions are all at allow. Any suggestions?

EDIT:

I did that and that's when the folder just disappeared but the data is still there, the program is very confusing about restoring files , it says that "files should become unlocked automatically" ... so where the heck are manual unlocking instructions.

It's not an encrypt , it's just a password lock , so data is all open. The problem is, i would get like 225 GB of individual files off the HDD recovery , i just want the harder way of accessing the folder but getting the folder structure , where can i find the time to SORT 220 GB of data omg.
