There should never be an automatic scheduled restart for updates.

I'm tired of the "automatic restart" for Windows updates. It always happens when I'm not available to save my work.

There should never be an "automatic restart". If Windows wants to update, the restart should have to wait until I'm actually able to deal with it.

Scheduling a time doesn't work because I'm always working on something.

"Automatic restart" should be removed from the update protocol entirely.

When a update is recommended, it needs to hold on ready until I have actually saved what I want to save, close programs and then press the button giving the OK. It should not happen automatically while I'm asleep or at work.

I want Microsoft to modify the update procedures to it just notified me when an update is needed, but it must wait until I give the okay. No more automatic restart.

To me, it would be like if a contractor bulldozed a house without asking, destroying everything inside, and rebuilt without your permission or without waiting for you to get out of the house.

I don't have a problem with the updates, just how they do it. I don't always have a chance to save my stuff before I go to work or go to sleep. I don't like getting home or waking up to find out that my computer restarted without giving me a chance to save what I was working on. I may have been in the middle of something that can't be interrupted.

I want Microsoft to do something about this. Automatic restart isn't necessary and causes problems. It can wait to restart until I'm ready for it to restart.

    :)

    Vista Automatic Updating Error

    Resolution Suggestion:

    # To resolve this problem, make sure that BITS and the Automatic Updates service are started..

A simple solution but one that works in most circumstances!

    1. Click Start, click Run, type services.msc, and then click OK.

    2. In the list of services, right-click Automatic Updates, and then click Properties.

    3. In the Startup type list, click Automatic, and then click Apply.

    4. If Service status is set to Stopped, click Start, and then click OK.

    5. Right-click Background Intelligent Transfer Service, and then click Properties.

    6. In the Startup type list, click Manual, and then click Apply.

    7. If Service status is set to Stopped, click Start, and then click OK.
