Windows 10: theres some problem related to my microsoft account specifically onenote

recently edge browser told me that my email and password got leaked online, ichanged them at that moment, and now after a few weeks i wasnt able to add remove students from my notebook but an error like this was shown every time: And today i thought that changing my password may fix this issue, tried so by signing out of my onenote app, but when i opened manage account section of outlook account there were many failed sign in attempts made by some person whom i dont know, i tlooked like someone was using different vpns to do so, each of them were failed but it was been done since last week or

The Onenote app also has broader account-related issues:

• Sign in with Microsoft account, and Onenote syncs to that.
• Remove this account from Onenote only, and add a different Microsoft account.

OneNote does not sync the new account's OneNote files, only sees the old account's files, and gives an error "OneNote needs a password to sync this notebook -> Sign In" where the "Sign In" button does nothing.

Steps:

• Sign into a local account
• Open the OneNote app (tablet not desktop app)
• Sign in to this app with a Microsoft account

The local account is then converted into a Microsoft account with that identity.

This is wrong and unexpected behaviour as no indication is given that the sign in is for the whole of windows rather than just OneNote.

It is also hard to revert.

I am guessing that other apps may exhibit the same behaviour.

In fact I don't understand how an app (which is supposed to be sandboxed and secure) can change user account information.

 

Cannot link/add my Microsoft Account to Local Account

Hello Ken,

Im using Win10 Build 1607 with all latest update.

I also run all related troubleshooters:

• Windows Update
• Store Apps (says i have to login in my microsoft account but thats the problem, i can't)
• Microsoft Accounts

No Problem found. Also the suggestions from Microsoft didnt helped.
