(this is a fresh install, not an update btw)

The trouble began with using an old busted SSD for my install. I got an error at install at the point of configuring windows I think? Whatever the longest step is in the part of the install that still looks like windows 7. Couldn't get past it, new installation media and everything. This SSD came from an old laptop that died after a windows update a few years ago. (I also tried installing arch Linux on this drive, fully formatted, all new arch partitions, and it was unable to mount /home.)

Next day, new SSD. I kept the old one in, thinking I could use it as a D//: drive, as secondary storage. New installation media on a new USB stick as well. I select the new empty one as the target for install, and get to the part of install where you sign in with your Microsoft account. Then the screen goes black. The fans ramp up to 100% all of a sudden (I now think that might have been just the GPU fans). They are normal for a second, then ramp up, then are normal. Screen is black and doesn't come back. Quickly I take out the old drive and use just the new one, and do a new install off the same media. Same problem after roughly the same time into the customisation part of the install.

Third drive, an ancient 5400rpm one. No SSDs at all in the system. Same black screen problem after significantly more time, though I still didn't get through the customisation process because I was distracted. The fans didn't ramp up this time. I take out the USB and just boot off the HDD. Through some black magic with restarts and the terminal, I managed to get to safe mode in an admin account.

Now I can see Device Manager. It can't report whether the display adaptor for my RX 570 is healthy/working because of Safe Mode, but it says that it wasn't able to start last night in the events tab, but says nothing about today or the current boot. It also says there's an issue with the "Generic PnP monitor" but there are no problematic events. Same with Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth Properties and AMD High Definition Audio Device, an error symbol but no bad events. There's a Code 31 error on Microsoft Hyper-V Virtualization Infrastructure Driver Properties.

Where do I go from here? This PC was a birthday present from my parents and they're really worried that it's completely broken, and tbh I am too.

  2. Windows 7 wont install drivers

i dont think anyone here understands what your asking either when its nearly a 90% english dominated Tech forum.
    Step 1
    reinstall windows from scratch
    Step 2
install all drivers from the cd that came with the god damn motherboard *common sense*
    Step 3
    update windows
    Step 4
install misc etc crap like flash java etc etc
    Step 5
    Install GPU drivers
    Step 6
go back to using your pc without issue.
