"This device is currently in use" USB error msg (Win ver 1903)

    Hello,

I've had trouble off and on for YEARS with receiving the "This device is currently in use. Close any programs or windows that might be using the device, and then try again." error message when attempting to remove external drives connected to a USB port. Occasionally I've been able to resolve it and safely remove the drive, but more often I end up shutting down the computer and then removing the drive and rebooting.

I recently went to this website: Fix 'This device is currently in use' Error and Safely Remove USB Mass Storage - EaseUS to find a permanent solution. One of the options they suggested was to eject the disk using Disk Management, but when I right click on My Computer and then click on "Manage", nothing happens. Why is my computer non-responsive to this command?

    Thank you for your time.

    :)

  3. Windows 10 home ver 1903 error code

I am trying to upgrade windows 10 to the latest version 1903 using the windows 10 upgrade assistant. I am currently running ver 1809 which took out my windows store app, but otherwise runs fine. The windows 10 upgrade assistant errors out with
code 0xc1900107. I am using a desktop pc, HPE 500F, with an AMD Phenom 1045T processor. Any suggestions on how to get past this error?

  4. "This device is currently in use" USB error msg (Win ver 1903)

    USB composite device "driver error"

Can you send us a screenshot of the error message? We suggest uninstalling and re-installing USB drivers and check if the issue persists. To do that, please follow these steps:

    • Right-click on the Start button and select Device Manager.
    • Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.
    • Right-click on the first USB controller under Universal Serial Bus controllers, and then click on
      Uninstall to remove it.
    • Repeat these steps for the entire USB controller under Universal Serial Bus controllers.
    • Restart the computer. Windows will automatically scan for hardware changes and reinstall all the USB controllers that you uninstalled.

    Regards.
