Hello,I recently reinstalled Windows 11 on my computer due to some problems. Before the reinstallation I physically removed my D drive, which contained some Microsoft Store applications from my previous version of Windows.Following reinstallation, I reconnected the disk and deleted the "WindowsApps", "WpSystem" and "Program Files" folders from it. However, I can't move my applications. I'm asked to delete apps from this other device. The disk is in NTFS format and contains the partition that allows it to work with Windows, since it was formatted by my old version of Windows the first time it wa

What can I do about the Program Files, WindowsApps and WPsystem folders being created in the wrong drive?

After having attempted to install MS Flight Simulator via Xbox Gamepass and several Steam games to my secondary hard drive I've noticed that some of my games no longer launch and that there are Program Files, WindowsApps and WPsystem folders now appearing
in my secondary drive. Resetting my computer got rid of my apps but not those folders. What can I do to correct things and prevent this from happening again?

    Unnecessary apps in C:\Program Files\WindowsApps

I see a lots of versions of the same app in C:\Program Files\WindowsApps. These are apps that I don't even have installed. Overall they are taking up about 10GB.

    1. How can I remove these apps completely?
    2. Or can I keep only the most recent version?

    The storage sense
    suggested here
or disk cleanup of system files has not helped.

Here is the log of some of the unnecessary apps with sizes in MB

  4. "This drive has apps from another device", but no "WindowsApps", "WpSystem" or "Program...

Store apps are installing on external device even if the setings are set to internal drive on Windows 10.

    Hello,

Thank you for posting on Microsoft Community. We regret the inconvenience caused and will assist you in resolving the issue.

Before assisting further, I would like to ask you few questions:

    • What is the error message you get on downloading the apps from Windows Store after disconnecting the external drive?

    • Did you try relocating “WindowsApps” & “WpSystem” files to
C: drive from the external device?

You may be facing the above issue due to the missing files to download and store the apps from
Windows Store from the previous drive location.

I suggest you to copy and paste the files from external drive to
    C:
drive on the PC and check if the issue is resolved.

Write to us with the answers to the above questions and the status of the issue on the same post for further assistance.

    Thank you.
