Windows 10: This has started about a month ago, but my computer has started to change settings on it's own.

It just started to be a google chrome problem. The search engine changed to yahoo and tabs were closing. This happened for a good two weeks, and then, just when I opened this computer up, it felt like a whole new computer. The computer settings like dark and light mode was changed, the backround of the computer was changed, and it took around 5 minutes to reset all the settings and to change them back to my preference.I have an Acer Swift 5 from a few years ago: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08JQKMFFB/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1 Thanks for any help!

You need to go one step further...

Settings >Personalization > Start, then click as shown by the RED square...

 

how do i reset the start menu in windows 10 to not show tiles?

A few days ago, my friends Win10 computer stopped showing his desktop and now only shows the tiles (he wants to see the default list of programs, not any tiles).

Clicking on the Windows key or "start menu" doesn't change anything. I stepped him through some online suggestions (including Settings/Start/Use-start-full-screen and making sure Settings/Table-mode was not engaged) but they don't work.

I've also compared his settings (Start/Use-start-full... and Table-mode) to my Win10 machine and they are the same.

Assistance/suggestions would be appreciated.
