Windows 10: This installation package could not be opened Error

Hi,About a month ago I started my laptop and received the following error message:"This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package".Nothing had been attempted to be installed the previous day as far as I am aware and every since then each time I restart the exact same error message comes up.I have tried a number of things to try and potentially solve the error but without knowing what it is trying to do this is very difficult.Is there a way I can

The above error can occur if the locally cached Windows Installer package (*.msi) file is damaged or corrupted.

To rectify the above, I suggest that you try the steps mentioned below and check if you are able to install the software successfully.

• Open the \Windows\Installer folder on your computer's hard disk.
• Right-click any file with an .msi extension.
• Click Properties on the shortcut menu. The
  Subject box on the Summary tab contains the name of the product that installed the .msi file.
• Repeat steps 2 and 3 for each .msi file in the \Installer folder, and delete the .msi file for the software that you are trying to install.

Windows Installer Error: This installation package cannot be opened.

I'm certain this message is familiar:

"This installation package cannot be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer Package."

The program I'm attempting to install is VitalSource Bookshelf so I can download my textbooks and lab books for my classes. I have a Dell Inspiron 15R, 64-bit, i5 core, 1 TB that that initially had a Windows 8 OS but I have since updated to Windows 10.

I'm able to download the setup but when installation begins the setup closes and I receive the error message.

Here's the solutions I've attempted that have failed to install the program.

1. Uninstall and Reinstall.

2. Run as administrator

3. Stopped and restarted Windows Installer service

4. Used CMD to un-register server and re-register server

5. Ran System File checker. Nothing found.

6. Ran setup on alternate administrative account.

7. Ran compatibility versions.

8. Extracted hidden exe file from msi file.

9. Firewall Permissions

10. Network Permissions

11. Deactivated conflicting programs

12. Scanned msi files-no missing components or code

I'm open to any suggestions anyone may have to add to this list.

 

error 2753 preventing from installing

This might be either due to some issues with the Windows Installer service or it might be an issue with the package that you have downloaded. So, I would suggest you to try downloading the package again and then try installing it.

Let us try the following steps, and check if it helps.

Step 1: Check the Windows Installer Service

• 
  Press Windows + R keys and type
  service.msc.
  
• 
  In the Service window scroll down and find the
  Windows Installer service. Double-click
  Windows Installer in the Services list to open its properties window.
  
• 
  On the General tab, make sure the service is
  started under Service status.
  
• 
  If the service was stopped, under
  Service status, then start the service by clicking on the Start button, and then click
  OK.
  

Step 2: Unregister and re-register the Windows Installer

• 
  Press Windows + R to open
  Run.
  
• 
  In the run type the following command and click on
  OK.
  

MSIEXEC /UNREGISTER

• 
  Press Windows + R to open
  Run.
  
• 
  In the run type the following command and click on
  OK.
  

MSIEXEC /REGSERVER

• 
  Now, try installing the package again and check.
