Windows 10: This latest Windows update broke drivers or processes or something

Hey Smartest Kids in the Room,

I’m not sure if I should be asking here or in another sub! But it’s happened on my VR PC.

Last night Windows installed a bunch of updates to version 1909 on my new gaming PC. Now I find the following: my Bluetooth keyboard and mouse won’t work, and if I plug in the Oculus headset, I get the windows device connection/disconnection noise going of continuously. Very obnoxious. The rift headset and controllers and games all work, but that damned sound keeps playing. If I look at the system tray, “Intel Bluetooth” constantly blinks in and out of the tray.

I gather that the update has caused a driver or process to get fucked up. I reinstalled various lan/wan/usb drivers from my AsRock z390m/itx mobo, but the Intel drivers mostly reported “New driver already installed”

And of course I rebooted! I also booted into safe mode once. I also ran system file checker, which found errors, but after reboot it was clear there was no effect on my problem.

I’ve gone to device manager, uninstalled, then scanned for hardware changes but then it’s back to the same problem.

Any suggestions? I recall that some people have trouble when they initially install their VR headsets, and I wonder if I need to reset the extensible controller or something, but I seem to have larger overarching problem, based on my sudden loss of Bluetooth as well.

Windows 10 update broke the LAN driver (Broadcom)

Please try the below methods and check:

Method 1: Internet Connection Troubleshoot

Windows has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with Internet connection. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with your internet.

Refer these steps:

• Press Windows key + X, select Control panel
• Change the view by option on the top right to Large icons
  
• 
  Click on troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel.
  Run the Internet Connection troubleshooter.
  

Method 2: I suggest you to update drivers and check if that helps. If that issue persist please uninstall and reinstall latest drivers available in manufacturer
website.

• Press “Windows + X” and select Device manger.
• Select Network Adapter and expand the driver icon.
• 
  Right click on the driver icon and click on Update.
  
• 
  Follow the onscreen instructions to update the driver.

NVIDIA Adds Windows 8 to GeForce Driver Update Stack

AMD may have been the first to be out with drivers for its Radeon GPUs that are optimized for Windows 8 (WDDM 1.2), but NVIDIA went a step ahead of "special-releases" for its GeForce drivers, and added Windows 8 to its update stack, meaning that Windows 8 will feature in the list of operating systems to pick from, to download drivers. NVIDIA will constantly update these drivers along with mainline releases for Windows 7/Vista and XP. The latest such driver is 296.17. This driver supports GeForce and Quadro GPUs, and according to NVIDIA, is a quick-update over 295.73 WHQL, with the addition of performance optimization for Blacklight: Retribution.

Windows update keeps replacing ALPS Touchpad driver with a Synaptics driver.

I suggest you to uninstall and delete the previous drivers and the latest drivers for the touchpad and install the required version of the driver from Device Manager by following the steps below:

• Press Windows key + X and select Device Manager from the list.
• Expand the Touch pad driver.
• Right click on the driver and click on update/install.
• Select the required version from the on-screen prompts.

And for the problem with the installation of printer drivers, I suggest you to run the Windows Update troubleshooter by following the steps below:

• Type “Troubleshooting” in search box and press Enter.
• Click on “View All” option on top left pane.
• Select “Windows Update” from the list and follow the prompts for troubleshooting.
