This question is not about the BIOS setting for enabling numlock key on startup

This question is not about the BIOS setting for enabling numlock key on startup. It is about how to enable the numlock key at startup and simultaneously disable the key so it can not be turned off when accidentally hit on a laptop.I know the key can be glued down on a desktop and that really is the best solution for a desktop. However, laptop keys are difficult to remove and I really don't want to try to rig it to be disabled.I tried a third party app called Numlocker. Numlocker only disables the numlock key after the wizard does it's setup for a period of time. That period being until the dev

  2. Windows10 - numlock not on at startup

    Hi guys,

    Trick was not really helpful.

After a logon, the NumLock key is now effectively on, but I need this before the logon.

My logon password has digits, and I would need the Numlock key to be «ON» at the logon process.

Is there another way to solve that ??

    Thanks for your help.

    Enable NumLock on Fast-Startup

    Hello all,

The issue I am currently having is enabling NumLock before the logon, I have modified the corresponding registry key (Find attached my screenshot below) and that works perfectly fine when restarting my PC, however I have fast-startup (Screenshot also below) enabled and if I shutdown my PC and then boot it up again, NumLock is disabled by default. I have made numerous searches and can't seem to find any information in regards to Fast-startup or any registry keys linked to it and I don't particularly want to disable Fast-startup. Just to clarify, NumLock is always enabled before logon when booting up my PC and Fast-startup is disabled, however with Fast-startup enabled, NumLock is only enabled when restarting my computer.

Does anyone have any information in relation to this or possibly a solution?
    Thanks in advance!

    Regards

How to enable NumLock key in Windows 10

Neither the registry hacks or holding down the NumLock key at startup works for me; as previously stated, the only thing that does work - with my system configuration - is to shut off fast start up. In order to do so, here are the steps again in case you
    missed it:

    1. Go to the Control Panel (right click on Start button and choose "Control Panel" or press the "Win-x" keys to get to the same menu and choose Control Panel.)

    2. Click on the "System and Security" setting and then click on the "Change what the power buttons do" option under the Power Options heading.

    3. Click on the "Change settings that are currently unavailable" link near the top of this window.

    4. Under "Shutdown settings" uncheck the box in front of "Turn on fast startup (recommended)"

I have no idea what they put in the fast startup programming to cause the NumLock key to be disabled - and how it makes start up faster to actually take the time to disable the key after it has been enabled by the BIOS I don't know, either - but turning
off it off will make the NumLock key remain activated. I hope it works for you, too, Janedgc.

    Holly

Thank you Holly for this suggestion. I tried it and it didn't work for me. Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I've given up. I just turn off manually the number lock button each morning. Huguette
