Windows 10: This should be default in the OS

This should be default in the OS or at least included as an option. Admittedly, it would need to be simplified, made more User-friendly, in terms of setting it up or creating it. But, as is, being an FE windows it has all the same functionality as any FE window. It lives on all desktops' taskbar. No folders, no scrolling, no bothering with Start. All my clients & others, including MS Techs, have always raved about my showing it or giving it to them.Please, consider introducing it to Windows 11! I have used it since the early days of Win7. Lost default photo viewer after profile rebuild

Thanks Brink. I've tried those steps before i started searching Google. After the profile rebuild i don't have the Photo app listed to choose to make it default in either the system settings for default apps or the Open With option.

I can't even find it doing a search. Seems to have been removed somehow with the profile rebuild, which doesn't make sense.

Might be helpful to list what i've done I've done the open with check, the choose default program in the system menu, tried that in device manager default programs also. I've checked the programs and features Turn windows features on/off and it's not listed there (never thought it was but that was a suggestion), searched the MS Store, it's not listed there either.

I don't like playing in the registry unless i have defined steps and haven't found anything for this yet, just the Win7 version like in my OP.

 

How to make make a particular OS as default boot.

As per the description, I understand that you had installed two Windows 10 Operating systems on a particular hard drive, where one is genuine.

If you would like to make the genuine Operating system as the default boot, please follow the below steps.

• 
  Press the Windows + R keys to open the Run dialog, type
  msconfig, and press Enter.
  
• 
  Click/tap on the Boot tab.
  Select the operating system you want to delete that is not set as the
  Default OS, and click/tap on Delete.
  
  NOTE:
  If the OS you want to delete from the list is the
  Default OS, then you will need to change the default operating system
  to another listed OS first.
  
• 
  Check the Make all boot settings permanent box, and click on
  OK.
  
• 
  Click/tap on Yes to confirm.
  
• 
  Click/tap on the Restart button.

Default Photo issue

We suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps:

• Press Windows key + X.
• Go to control panel.
• Go to Default Programs.
• Click on Microsoft Picture Viewer and set it to default.
• Check if the issue is resolved.
