  2. After the Windows 10 update on 30th November 2017, it seems that almost EVERYTHING has been erased from my computer. How can I fix this?

Hi Simon. I'm Greg, a volunteer installation specialist and 8 year Windows MVP, here to help you.

Check at C:\Windows.old if your files were archived during a version upgrade because the install became corrupted and could not complete transfer.

Also check at C:\Users if your old account was replaced by a temporary one because it became corrupted. Your files may still be there.

Was this the Fall Creators Update version 1709? Check at Settings>System>About.

If so you can roll it back to the older version at Settings>Update & Security>Recovery. Then hide it using the Hide Updates Tool here:
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3073930

If it is still an older version and you had regular Updates cause problems you can uninstall them at Settings>Update & Security>Windows Update>Installed Updates at the Uninstall Updates link, and then hide them using the Hide Updates Tool.

You can also try a System Restore:
    http://home.bt.com/tech-gadgets/computing/how-t...
. Make sure System Restore is always enabled with plenty of Disk space - 5-10%.

Otherwise you can go over this checklist to make sure the install is set up correctly, optimized for best performance, and any needed repairs get done:

    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

If any steps cannot be performed normally then try them in Safe Mode with Networking:

    https://www.digitalcitizen.life/4-ways-boot-saf...

But remember that Factory or Upgrade installs are inferior installs which most enthusiasts won't even run because they'd expect endless issues. Consider doing the Clean Install in this link which compiles the best possible install that will stay that way as
long as you stick with the tools and methods given:
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

There is also an automated Refresh that reinstalls WIndows while shedding corrupting factory bloatware, saves your files, but doesn't clear the drive to get it cleanest:

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

I can no longer find any files or folders that I used to have, this update was forced upon me and I was never warned that everything would be erased.
